PowerPoint lagging and slow in shared document

I'm noticing significant lags between on keystrokes and mouse edits when multiple users are inside of a shared PowerPoint document. The users may or may not be editing. Once the number expands beyond 3 users, the program is prohibitively slow. It does not appear to be a networking or connectivity issues. Is there anything that be adjusted in the settings to improve overall speed and functionality?

It seems to me that the steps above would have a pretty major impact on an organization. Is there any evidence that it would make a difference?

For what it's worth, our organization with about 10 users is seeing the same issue. Opening a Teams-based PowerPoint file in the desktop app (at least for macOS) works fine with I am the only user. It's barely acceptable when one other user is in the same document. (And that user is Windows based.). By the time a third user (this time Web-based) enters the document, it is impossible to make any edit without a 30 second delay.

I frankly can't understand how credentials would be responsible for this.

    Dear Offhismark,

Regarding "I'm noticing significant lags between on keystrokes and mouse edits when multiple users are inside of a shared PowerPoint document.", do you encounter the issue in PowerPoint for the web or in the PowerPoint application?

Does the issue happen with a specific PowerPoint file?

If it is convenient, I suggest you contact the administrator if you aren't the administrator, let him run Revoke-SPOUserSession via the command in Revoke-SPOUserSession (Microsoft.Online.SharePoint.PowerShell) | Microsoft Learn for all affected users, wait some time, let the users fully clear the browsers cache, close the browsers, clear prior activation information manually via the steps in Reset activation state for Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise - Microsoft 365 Apps | Microsoft Learn and then open the shared file in PowerPoint for the web with their accounts and do a test with PowerPoint for the web or the PowerPoint applications to see if the issue goes away.

If it is convenient, check whether the file is large and whether the situation is improved after you change a small file. Meanwhile, change a network environment to see if the issue happens.

Welcome to share any updates at your convenience.

    Sincerely
