Suddenly, I can't access my military email.

It seems like the Army is moving to a remote desktop set up for Microsoft 360 access. Use https://aka.ms/goarmyavd and follow the instructions to get set up.

Do you have any more information on the potential change to accessing military emails other than check with IT team? I'd imagine this was a significant update supported by Microsoft since DoD uses Office 365/Microsoft products exclusively. Maybe check with the DoD team at Microsoft to see what changed in the last few days that made thousands of email accounts inaccessible?

Apparently the only way to access your .mil emails now on your personal computer is by using AVD (Azure Virtual Desktop): https://www.milsuite.mil/book/groups/army-enterprise-azure-virtual-desktop

The setup wasn't too bad but just another pain to get to your email as a Reservist....

Now sure why the "Microsoft Agent / Moderator" above didn't mention this as it was a major roll out this month which was done poorly.

BLUF:

Effective 1 JUN 2024, access to Army 365 from commercial internet will be blocked unless personnel use one of the approved solutions;  Virtual Private Networking (VPN), Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Hypori (also known as BYOD), and Mobile Access Management (MAM).   

This change affects mostly connection using personal computers.  Previously, users can access webmail, Teams etc. from their personal computer via the web browser from home/hotels etc.  As of 1 JUN 2024, users with personal computer will not be able to access webmail/Teams.  To access, they must use one of the approved solutions listed below to access.

Details:

Effective 1 JUN, NETCOM will block access to Army 365 services (Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, PowerBI etc.) from direct connection via commercial internet.  i.e. you will no longer have access to webmail, A365 Teams/SharePoint from home/hotel etc. without using one of the authorized solutions. Accessing Army 365 from commercial internet directly is also known as “Flow 3”.

Below are the ways to access A365 as of 1 JUN 2024:

 1.  For government-issued computers:  Directly connected to a .mil network such as the ARnet from a USAR facility.  You can use A365 apps or web browser to access once VPN is connected.

 2. ****For government-issued computers:  **Connect through Virtual Private Networking (VPN)**remotely using a government computer.  You can use Army 365 apps or web browser to access.

 3.  For personal computers:  Use Azure Virtual Desktop ( **AVD).**Sign-up at http://go.mil/ArmyAVD.  Registration process is quick and user usually gain access within hours.  AVD gives user a desktop-like experience with access to all files stored on OneDrive, Teams and Outlook app.

 4.  For personal mobile devices such as phone, tablet:  Use Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)/ **Hypori.**Register at https://play.apps.appsplatform.us/play/e/default-fae6d70f-954b-4811-92b6-0530d6f84c43/a/e016d586-232e-4254-92f7-52ac2f7533e9?tenantId=fae6d70f-954b-4811-92b6-0530d6f84c43&hideNavBar=true)    

5. For personal mobile phone:  **Mobile Access Management (MAM).**Register at https://play.apps.appsplatform.us/play/e/6df516cc-6c32-e3c0-8459-d719b5af0b89/a/c20a47c1-02d7-4855-8f92-ece360bc2b76?tenantId=fae6d70f-954b-4811-92b6-0530d6f84c43&hint=0db1d648-b1f1-4c4d-ab84-7ac9821ea602&sourcetime=1704139725879.  MAM is similar to Hypori but with more user-friendly interfaces and faster speed.  Please note that Army 365 apps on Government mobile phones will stop working if a user is on-boarded to use MAM.  Government cell phone users will need to choose either the gov. cell phone or MAM for Army 365 apps.
