I was forced to do a factory reset, and was unable to access my files to back them up to an external hardrive. How can I recover my files?

    hi

a clean install wipes the hard drive clean of everything

you can not undo what you have done

if you have lost data you can try this

there has been some success using this program in these circumstances

    also read this:

as we do not know exactly how you reinstalled it look for a windows.old folder

How to restore your personal files after you perform a custom installation of Windows Vista or of Windows 7

or even rollback to a previous operating system using window.old folder information at below link

if the above does not apply we can not help you

    try data recovery experts

    but they are very expensive

You can easily recover most, if not allfileyour files after a factory reset, but you have to not use the computer for anything until you run a rfile recovery program from another computer using your reset drive as an external hard drive. A factory reset doesn't wipe data from your drive, it simply marks it as open space, so your computer can reuse the file space, hence the reason why you can't use your computer until you run the software.
