Onedrive for Business: Photos Section Absent

I have a personal OneDrive account that shows a "Photos" tab in the left-hand navigation pane; photos that are uploaded there are recognized as photos and show up in a more album-centric manner (and, in fact, offer to generate automatic albums). However, on my OneDrive for Business (Education) account, no such option exists; OneDrive won't recognize folders consisting entirely of photos (JPEGs), and treats them in an old-style Windows XP manner using the browser-based access, forcing one-by-one viewing.

On my personal (free) OneDrive, the options include Photos and PCs (here),

...whereas my paid OneDrive for Business shows only four of these (below):

Does anyone know how to force OneDrive to create/activate a "Photos" section to take advantage of this richer photo viewing/editing experience that is available in the free OneDrive? It's rather pointless for me to share photos in this manner when I could just share a Google Photos album much easier (than Business, that is--the free OneDrive works fine).

Thanks!

    Hi Sam,

There is no method to create or activate a “Photos” section in OneDrive for Business as it in OneDrive because OneDrive for Business and OneDrive are different.

OneDrive is a personal cloud place to storing your own personal files while OneDrive for Business brings teams together to collaborate on documents and other things. They have a different view pane for different purposes. You can take a look at OneDrive for Business vs OneDrive – Know the difference to learn more information.

    Hi Kimi,

Many thanks for your quick response. That is unfortunate; the point here was to collaborate with a team as well, but I guess I'll just have to migrate the album over to my personal account and apologize to my recipients.

    Cheers,

    Sam

Is there any plans to have the ability to backup camera photo's to OneDrive for business.  We use O365 E1 & E3 and many of our staff work in the field and will need to take pictures on sites.  Currently, there is no way to backup these images to their Business OneDrive and we will not allow creating/accessing personal OneDrive or Google Drive for business purposes.  Are there any plans to provide this ability in OneDrive for business? If so, estimated ETA? If not, is there a solution for this type of business need that can be suggested (Smart Phone camera).

    Thank you,

    Tonia

    Hi Tonia,

Although there is no Photo section in OneDrive for Business as personal OneDrive, it can be used to upload and backup photos and images in the Files library. The Enterprise (E1&E3 is included in Enterprise) or Business all include OneDrive for Business services. The advantage of using it is the easy sharing with other users in organization.  Users can choose not to share the images if they want to keep them private.

If the above information doesn’t help, I’d like to know what’s the detailed situation about “there is no way to backup these images to their Business OneDrive”.

    Regards,

    Kimi

    Thank you Kimi.

What I am meaning is on a smart phone (any smart phone), in your photo's area or gallery (etc.) you can select a location in which photos that you take with the camera, will store to the cloud. You can have photo's store to the cloud on iCloud, Google Drive, Drop Box, and One Drive personal but not OneDrive for business.

As a business we do not allow personal account access on computers or devices and all are set up with O365 for business.  Our field workers who are required to take pictures while out on a site, currently have to either email them to share or plug in their phone to a computer to download the images from the device.  As field workers who do not actively access a computer since they are able to do what they need on their (E1) smart phones, they tend to not backup their images or upload them to a computer.

Since we have O365 set up to store everything for our users automatically, they find that it is easy to collaborate and move to different devices without issue, all except for field worker images.  This is what I am looking for, a solution within O365 business.
