New Teams defaulting to high contrast mode

I use high contrast mode in Windows for accessibility reasons. However, I prefer to use Teams in dark mode as I find it easier on my eyes than high contrast. In the old version of teams it was possible to turn on high contrast mode in Windows settings and then go into Teams settings and switch back to dark mode. This functionality does not seem to exist in the new version of Teams & as a result Teams is hurting my eyes. Is there a way to put Teams back into dark mode without turning off high contrast?

    I understand that you would want the dark mode in the new MS Teams chat.

    Please be aware that the feature of switching the theme of the new Teams app to dark mode is currently not available as the new Teams is still undergoing development phases and this might be incorporated into it the new Teams app in the nearest future.

    I don't know about High Contrast mode but "Dark" is still available as a Theme option under Settings, Appearance and accessibility.

    Dear Microsoft

    Please allow dark contrast in the new Teams. There are millions of users that you will negatively impact. I cannot believe that Microsoft would consider eliminating this much needed required. element in the new Teams. Millions of us implore you to not eliminate the dark contrast option in the new teams

    I am getting warnings that the Classic Teams will be unavailable in a few weeks. Please make adding dark contrast a priority for the new Teams. I will be unable to utilize this tool effectively without that. I am sure I am not the only one. Please everyone let Microsoft know this is a big mistake.

    A co-worker showed me how to set Dark Contrast in the new Teams today.. Now that MS does not allow me to use Classic Teams anymore without that intervention I was unable to use Teams as I could not see the screen. I would like to think that MS did a quick fix to allow this and I am happy to be able to continue working without hurting my eyes.
