How do I copy a style from one document to another?

Thanks. I've been trying for a couple of hours, but the Help and online solutions don't help.

In the Organizer, you will see the current document and the Normal template by default. Use the Close button to close it. The button will then change to Open, and you can click it to browse to the document from which you want to copy styles.

Sorry, that copied the text from document A to document B, but not the style info itself.

I have Heading 1 as formatting "1. ____" and I need Heading 2 to be "1.1 ____." it's that way in document A. Both documents have styles that are named "Heading 1" and "Heading 2." I just need the formatting of Heading 2 in the 2nd doc to match the formatting of Heading 2 in the first document.

The copy text method works so long as the style being copied is not "in use" in the recipient document.

Here is my writing on the Organizer. You have to have your current document open on one side. Close the Normal template in that window and open the recipient document.

In the Organizer window navigate to the source file on the left-hand side of the window (click on Close File then click on Open File to perform the navigation).

Once you’ve done that you should see its Styles in the, “top left-hand list”.

On the right-hand side of the window click Close File then click on Open File to navigate to the destination file.

Once you’ve got source and destination files in view click on the name of the Style you wish to copy in the “top left-hand list" so that it’s highlighted then hit the button called:-

    Copy - >

You should now see the Style copied into the, “top right-hand list”.

    Click:-

    Close

     - in the lower right-hand corner.

Save at this point if you want to save the Style in the destination file.

    See screen shot below.

Here I’m copying the Style called:-

    Practice tasks

     - from the source file:-

    styles_copy_from_one_file_to_another_testing_jan_13

     - to the destination file:-

    styles_copy_from_one_file_to_another_testing_jan_13

Do the following: In the Styles pane (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S), click the Manage Styles icon and click the Import/Export button. This displays the Organizer dialog box.
