How do I create a Outlook email account

I want to create a Outlook mail account but I have a Hotmail account. Every time I go to Outlook.com to create one, it goes to my Hotmail account and asks for my login. I want a new Outlook account. I know Hotmail and Outlook are the same but I want a ******@outlook.com address not a hotmail.com ending

What am I doing wrong? Can this be done?

    Sorry for the inconvenience. However, did you select @Outlook.com?

    Go to login.live.com > select Sign up now. The sign up form will appear. Enter your email and select @outlook.com

    After days of trying to fix my email problem (told Hotmail is now Outlook) that I must get an Outlook email account ,, which finally was accepted, now I can access my Hotmail account (which I had for years & prefer). I was afraid I'd lost my email contacts, photos, documents, etc. but they're all there & now Outlook is looking more like a scam.. anyone else have the same problem?

    jt3219, you need to sign outyour current account from Outlook.com

    Thanks but the link you posted, Login.live.com sign up now, just sends me to a Microsoft site and want me to buy a Microsoft 365 account.

    There is not a login button. If I go to Outlook.com it automatically signs me into my hotmail account.
