Okay Edmund, glad to help!
Computer restarts instead of shutting down
I don't know if this is a computer glitch or a Microsoft one. Lately, maybe since the last update, when I shut off the computer, it restarts instead. Not consistently, but maybe about half the time. I get the screen that says it's shutting down with the little circling dots and the next black screen with the notice that it's going away, then all turns black. The lights on the hard drive flicker a bit, but stay lit for much longer than they should. Eventually, it just goes to restart, and I have to do it all over again.
If anyone has any ideas what this is about, I'd appreciate some input. Thanks.

2021-09-02T14:07:05+00:00 Hi Edmund
I am Dave, I will help you with this.
1
Open the old Control Panel
At the top of the old Control Panel, set View to icons
Select Power Options
On the left, click 'Choose what the power buttons do'
At the top right, click 'Change settings that are currently unavailable'
Under 'Shutdown settings' disable 'Turn on fast startup'
Save that and close Control Panel

If that does not solve the problem:
Go to the support page for your PC or Motherboard on the manufacturers website, then from there, download and install the version of Chipset drivers they recommend and while there, check for any BIOS update that may need to be installed

2021-09-08T17:53:57+00:00 I'm just following up. It's been a week, and the computer has been shutting down as it's supposed to. The directions above worked.
Thanks.
