How to stop Windows 11 from downloading Drivers

I've tried the following instructions from this site to stop Windows 11 from downloading Drivers. It has miserably failed. Here's the site -

    Hi ,

    I am Ivan, I will help you with this.

    1. Use the Windows key + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run command.
    2. Type regedit, and click OK to open the Registry path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows
    3. Quick Tip: On Windows 10/11, you can now copy and paste the path in the Registry's address bar to quickly jump to the key destination

    Right-click the Windows (folder) key, select New, and click on Key.

    Name the key WindowsUpdate and press Enter

    4 Right-click the newly created key, select New, and click on DWORD (32-bit) Value.

    Name the key ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate and press Enter.

    Double-click the newly created DWORD and set the value from 0 to 1.

    Click OK.

    Step 1. Open Windows Run by pressing Windows + R keys at the same time. Type regedit and hit Enter to open Registry.

    Step 2. Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Policies -> Microsoft -> Windows -> DriverSearching.

    Step 3. Double-click DriverUpdateWizardWuSearchEnabled and set the value data as 0. Click OK.

    Step 4. Restart your Windows 10 PC and this setting will take effect.

    Is there another way to resolve this other than going into the Registry to make adjustments?

    Hi ,

    It is possible to disable using Group policy, however this method is only possible in the Pro or enterprise versions.

    Use the Windows key + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run command.

    Type gpedit.msc and click OK to open the Local Group Policy Editor.

    Browse the following path:

    Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Manage updates offered from Windows Update

    On the right side, double-click the

    Do not include drivers with Windows Update policy.

    Select the Enabled option.

    Click Apply.

    Click OK.
