WIndows 7 Professional can't use the PING command__

I am trying to ping other machines from my windows 7 professional machine.

We do not use the windows firewall and it is turned off.

When I type the ping statement in the CMD window it says:

'ping' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

How can I ping with this machine?

    i have the same problem, i try to solve according to your answer but all i get is : the filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. any suggestion on how to get this correct?

    Try this:

    1. Click Start, then type the three letters cmd into the Search box and press Enter.
    2. Type these commands and press Enter after each:

        dir %SystemRoot%\System32\ping.exe

        path %path%;%SystemRoot%\System32

        ping www.google.com

    1. Report the result

    Can you explain what has caused by this type of error?

    But after i closed the command promt and open it again the error goes back
