    Hi StinkElium,

This is Vijaikumar, an Individual contributor in Microsoft community network. I hope to help you today.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you through the process:

    Open File Explorer:

Navigate to the root of the drive C:.

Click on the “View” tab and check the “Hidden items” box to make sure you can see all hidden folders.

    Goto Program Files folder.

Right-click on the WindowsApps folder, select “Properties,” go to the “Security” tab, and click “Advanced.”

    Change Ownership:

In the Advanced Security Settings, click “Change” next to the owner label.

Enter your username, click “Check Names” to verify, and then click “OK.”

    Apply the changes.

    Adjust Permissions:

Back in the Security tab, click “Edit,” select your username, and check the “Full control” box.

    Click “OK” and “Apply.”

Once you’ve completed these steps, you should have full access to the WindowsApps folder.

If you encounter any issues or need further assistance, feel free to ask!

Out of sheer curiosity... will doing this have any negative impact on the performance of apps or programs located within the windowsapps folder on windows 11 like it did back on windows 10?

For example, many windows 10 users that did this reported having problems with the Xbox app and the installation and deletion of games among many other issues...

    Thanks in advance.

Do not mess with the permissions of system folders. That's the best way to break things so badly that you have to reinstall Windows.

If you need to change something in "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps", such as a game mod, then access the folder using a tool that gives you TrustedInstaller access, such as PowerRunAdvancedRun, or my free Right-Click Tools.

Thank you. I'd best leave it alone then.
