How can I remove the edge popup: Download the new Microsoft Edge to get the best of the web.?

The new edge keeps crashing my 64bit system. I went back to Microsoft Edge 44.19041.1.0.

thanks

Matt

Hi, I am Nigel, Independent Advisor here to work with you on this issue.

Sorry, I seem to be answering this question more than any other, so your not alone!!

When initially Edge Chromium was release you were able to uninstall back to the old Edge. This functionality is unfortunately not available now due to vulnerabilities in the old version which are not updated. It will be included automatically as part of patching as 'OLD' Edge has unpatched vulnerbilities.

You can set an alternative browser in Windows 10 using the following instructions.

Change your default browser in Windows 10

Select the Start button, and then type Default apps.

In the search results, select Default apps.

Under Web browser, select the browser currently listed, and then select Microsoft Edge or another browser.

I hope this answers your query, apologies if it is not the answer you wanted.

Feel free to ask back any questions and let me know how it goes.

The good note does not answer the question at the top of the page.

I have downloaded MS Edge and don't want it as my default bowser. I still keep getting pop ups asking me to download it and I can't see a way to be rid of it / them.

This pop up seems to be forcing us to use Edge as default which is a missuse of pop ups and invasive on behalf of MS

Same issue.  Downloaded and installed the new Edge browser, but whenever I open the Chrome browser this message appears. Clearing cache did not help either.

Same issue.  Downloaded and installed the new Edge browser, but whenever I open the Chrome browser this message appears. Clearing cache did not help either.

I have now pinned it to start and since then have't had the pop up but then it was only this morning - will see what happens.
