USB C doesn't detect video output

About a month and a half ago I had some problems with a game and it resulting in my laptop not responding, receiving a windows crash pop up and then it proceeding to gray screen. This problem has been fixed from the help of the game's support team but during those problems the last instance had also resulted in my drawing tablet, which I connect via a type-c to HDMI adapter as I already use the HDMI port for a separate monitor, to no longer receive signal.

The tablet still runs, receives signal when I simply connect it via HDMI and otherwise presents no problems.

So far I have tried:

-Using a new type-c to HDMI adapter

-Swapping my monitor to the adapter and the tablet to the HDMI, which resulted in the monitor receiving no signal

-Connect other things via the type-c port to see if it is overall faulty

-Reinstall drivers

-Upgrade to Windows 11

-Reinstall drivers again

  • Used the "Reset this PC" option from the Recovery settings

After reinstalling windows and trying to troubleshoot via settings in hopes of it finally working I had ran past the image added. I've been trying to fix it but still haven's been successful. I don't know if it is the source of my problem but I have been considering it my only solid lead.

    Hi,

I have connected other types of devices via the the Type-C port and they work as intended. I am quite sure this is only a software issue.

    Hello, Sack of Potatoes

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I have carefully read the information and problem description you provided.

I understand the trouble this problem has caused you. I noticed that you have tried most of the methods, but the problem still exists, which is indeed frustrating.

I see that you have tried to reinstall Windows, but the problem still exists. Usually, a clean installation can eliminate problems caused by system and software levels. Therefore, your problem may be caused by hardware failure. Among the methods you have tried, there are: connecting other devices through the Type-C port to see if the overall failure. Can you tell me whether this Type-C port works properly when connecting other devices?

If connecting other devices still does not work, then the problem is very likely caused by hardware failure. Since the detection of hardware problems requires professional tools and on-site testing, we cannot help you do this. Therefore, I suggest that you may need to contact a computer repair shop or contact the technical support staff of the device manufacturer for further hardware testing. With the help of professionals, you can locate the cause of the problem more quickly.

    Best regards
