MS Teams meeting link will not open app

My IT department had me uninstall Teams, remove files from the following locations, and then reinstall Teams.

%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Teams

%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\TeamsMeetingsAddin

%AppData%\Microsoft\Teams

%LocalAppData%\SquirrelTemp

This worked!

Thank you for the post amid with the detail explanation. 

Would you please tell us a little bit you opened the teams link from the outlook client or other resources?

From your description, when you click the link, the teams app won't start or immediately shut down? It will be great if you share your scenario.

If it works from earlier, for current, we would like to first try right click the link, and copy this URL to the internet browser. If you have the teams client, the website shall let you choose if open with the Teams app. Let me know your test results from this results or if it is the accepted workaround.

Back to outlook client, make sure the teams meeting add-in is checked or you could unchecked and check again: 

At outlook client, File, Option, Mange COM add-ins, Go:

Once you checked that option, close your outlook and restart it, then click the Teams invitation link.

As below, specifically best described by Krzysztof Marchlewskithere is a break in the association.

I am an IT guy, and nothing works, except to do an InPrivate anonymous meeting with pasted link.

That means none of my personalised settings will apply e.g. I cannot use my green screen. There

was supposed to be a fix released for this but I am on latest 10.0.19042, with latest Teams client

and no fix.

@Microsoft I am sure you know how many people now use teams, and this is a systemic problem -

what are you doing about it, and when will it be fixed?

I have same issue.

When I am trying to open meeting link, it opens a browser (Edge), then I click on "Start Desktop app" with no effect.

I was browsing the internet to find the solution, and none of the suggestions below helped:

• deleting Teams folder and reinstall - no help
• removing MSTeams system registry entres - no help

I did noticed that in the system settings, the protocol for URL:msteams looks like this (polish version):

so it looks like somehow there is no assotiation between app and protocol.

There is even no chance to select Teams as aplication and it says - go to Microsoft Store, hmmmm hardly disturbing.

But the Teams itself works fine including joining the meeting directly via app and its schedule, so I am hardly confused.

So, what do You think? What could be a solution?

I had the same issue and this worked for me:

Go to the same area>  Settings > Apps > Default Apps,  but instead of choosing 'apps by protocol' I chose 'set defaults by app'  then scroll down to 'Teams' and click on it.  you can then choose to enable them all for Teams. 

This worked for me.
