I suggest you Clean Boot your PC and then try to install the updates manually, follow these steps:

    ·         Click the Start

    ·         Type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

    ·         On the General tab, click Selective Startup.

    ·         Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.

    ·         Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.

    ·         Click OK.

    ·         When you are prompted, click Restart.

Now try searching the update from Microsoft download Center at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/default.aspx and download and install the required update. Once done make sure you revert the changes made in clean boot.

    Regards

    David

    Hi,

Is the issue confined to the update you have mentioned or related to all Security updates?

Since Microsoft Fixit has not helped, I would suggest that you manually reset the Windows Update related folders.

Note: Performing these steps would erase the Windows Update history from the computer, but will not uninstall any updates.

    1. Click Start, click Run and **** then type in Services.msc in the Run box and hit Enter. This should open up the Services windows for you.
    2. Then find the following three services in the Services list and Stop them (by right clicking on them and clicking on Stop) one by one:

    Windows Update

    Background Intelligent Transfer service (BITS)

    Cryptographic Service

    1. Open Windows Explorer and go to the following location:

    C:\Windows\

and rename the SoftwareDistribution folder to SoftwareDistribution.old

    1. Go to the following location:

    C:\Windows\System32\

and rename the Catroot2 folder to Catroot2.old

(be careful here, do not rename the Catroot folder, you need to rename only the Catroot2 folder)

    1. Now, go back to the Services window and Start the three services that you had stopped earlier.

Restart the computer and check if this makes any difference.  Do reply with the result so that we could assist you further.
