if there is a device with windows 11 already installed, why should we install windows 10 and upgrade? if it is valid to use windows 10 license on windows 11, then windows should support it instead of round about way of installing 10, activate & upgrade to windows 11
Windows 10 license to Windows 11 computer
Hi everyone,
I currently have a laptop with windows 10 home ( Retail - Digital), i have linked it to my Microsoft account as shown:
I recently purchase a computer which has unactivated windows 11, i tried to login with my Microsoft account but the license is not transferred over. I have tried the troubleshoot function on the activation tab but no device was found. Is it due to my digital license being windows 10 hence it is unable to use on the other computer which is on windows 11? Thank you for the help!

I am Sumit here to assist you with this question.
Yes, it is likely the cause, if the Microsoft Account is the same.
Can you reinstall Windows 10 on the unactivated 11 device, activate it, and then perform a free upgrade? Microsoft recommends upgrading instead of clean install to associate digital license with Windows 11.
Download Windows 11

Use the Installation Assistant to Download Windows 11

Alternatively, download an ISO file and Run Setup.exe to Start the Upgrade, using Windows 11 Media Creation Tool.
