BTHUSB PROBLEMS – Event Viewer IDs 3 and 5

System - Windows 7 x64 Home Premium V6.01.7601 SP1

MSI A6200 Notebook paired to Nokia 2720 mobile phone using Nokia PC Suite.

After resolving a long saga of problems with my Bluetooth drivers, I have paired my Nokia 2720 phone to my Notebook with everything running smoothly. On each Windows startup however, Event Viewer reports a BTHUSB ID 5 error (The Bluetooth driver expected an HCI event with a certain size but did not receive it) followed by a BTHUSB ID 3 warning (A command sent to the adapter has timed out. The adapter did not respond) I presume these errors/warnings relate to the BTHUSB.sys driver of my Bluetooth Device – Device Manager settings are as follows:

Bluetooth Radios

CSR Bluetooth Radio

Drivers C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\bthport.sys

C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\BTHUSB.SYS

C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\fsquirt.exe

Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator

Driver C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\bthenum.sys

Windows Mobile-based Device Support

Driver/s C:\Windows\System32\ceutil.dll (and hundreds of other files!)

The errors/warnings don't seem to effect anything and occur irrespective of whether Bluetooth Device is 'enabled' to allow other devices to connect' or 'disabled'.

I have searched all over the place but cannot find anything to explain what these IDs are. Anyone out there got any ideas what they mean? Thanking you.

    I am trying to work on this problem also. I have a USB dongle connected to a USB port BTHUSB errors and warnings in the event viewer Error ID5 & Warning ID3.

    Could it be a problem with the USB device/dongle itself should it be replaced. It does still sync with the device I am using it with I don't know anything about these errors. But my computer will sometimes BSOD unless the bluetooth dongle is unpluged.

    That is what I do also because my computer will BSOD sometimes.

    Sorry about the delay in answering - but I had problems finding my thread - thanks for the reply but no,  Fix It does not find any problems, nor provides any kind of explanation - my searches of web forums indicate that the ID 3 and 5 errors/warnings are 'calls' made to/from the Bluetooth adaptors/devices.

    Hi! I never did find an answer to why these errors were being posted - to get around this issue I now only plug my Bluetooth 'stick' into my Notebook when I wish to tether my phone and unplug when I'm finished! (I simply ignore the errors!)
