Windows 10 Startup Issue - "NTLDR is missing"

Hi!

I have recently had issues with my Windows 10 OS laptop. It was working fine but one day I encountered an error. I got past that, which was a hard drive issue, and have encountered yet another after fixing that. The issue is "NTLDR is missing." I have seen other posts about the issue but they have been no help. I bought the laptop from Dell as a Windows 8.1 stock laptop. I would like a step by step instruction on how to fix this issue.

Thanks, Seid Cubro

Start your PC then just as Windows loads - press and hold Power Button for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a shut down. Do it 3 times. You may only need to do it twice, but on the third start Windows will boot into the recovery environment.

You can also hold shift > press restart in the start menu to do the same

    1:

Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Option > Startup Repair

This will try to make Windows repair itself.

On a working computer, create an Installation media of Windows 10 that allows you to repair existing Windows Installation.

    Create a USB Flash Drive

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2376-create...

Boot from the USB Flash drive-Make sure you have disabled Secure boot/Fast boot in BIOS Settings.

Then open Advanced Startup options after the computer boots from USB. Click Repair your computer at the first screen that says Install now.

Select Startup repair, let it finish the job and see if the computer can boot afterward.

I don't know how you got to an XP Bootloader but you have come a long way from a UEFI Win 8.1 configuration.

Some more research for you ...

    Hi, Seid

To repair this error in Windows 7 and any later version (like Windows8 or Windows 10), the first thing we need is to have a DVD or USB bootable with the operating system. We introduce it and start the computer with it until we reach the first window of the Windows installation process. We choose our language and continue until we see the following.

Click on "Repair the computer" and, in the new window that appears, we will choose "System symbol" to get to see a new window of MS-DOS from which we will repair the equipment.

In this window, we will execute the following commands:

bootrec / fixmbr (to repair the MBR)

bootrec / fixboot (to reinstall Windows boot)

bootrec / rebuildbcd (to check that there are no incompatibility problems)

Finally we will type "exit" to exit the assistant and restart the computer. Now everything should work normally again.
