I am using Windows 10. In File Explorer, how do I search a directory tree for files of 0 bytes?

No problem - it's easy once you know how. Follow along with The Mighty Bulldog:

1- Open File Explorer. (Okay, you already knew that part.)

2- Navigate to the folder whose contents you wish to search for zero-byte files.

3- Click inside the search box in the upper right.

4- The Search Tools ribbon opens.

5- In the Refine group, click on the Size dropdown.

6- Choose Empty (0 KB)

Let File Explorer do its thing.

Just in case you're thinking of doing what The Mighty Bulldog did when he was The Foolish Bulldog: Just because a file has zero bytes doesn't mean you should remove it.
