I don't understand what just happened. I clicked on a link that locked up my computer. It said that there was possible pornographic malware. I called (800) 318-1045 because that was the number I found on the internet for microsoft support. Long story short, I paid $299.99 for up to 5 devices for 3 years. They accessed my computer and told me I had Trojan Horse malware trying to access my computer. They then went into my computer and fixed(?) everything. Was this legit?

I'm Kevin B. Windows user like you. I do apologize for the inconvenience, let me help you sort things out.

That is a technical support scam that pops up in some users machine. Don't entertain those pop ups or email because Microsoft will not part of it.

If they access your device, kindly check on your control panel and see what applications they installed on your machine.

Uninstall those application for it to remove on your computer. At the same time, you might want to reach out your bank for possible refund / cancel on your previous transaction .

It is a technical support scam since it happened when you accidentally access suspicious link on your machine and got you locked out. Those are trick used to scare users that their machine is infected with some kind of malicious software / virus and they will ask you to pay for their support.

Kevin, it was not a pop-up ad. I called a number I thought was microsoft support. Then I was connected to RoyalSoft Technologies LLC. that then downloaded Ultraview. By the way is (800) 318-1045 a legit number for microsoft support?
