How to keep snipping tool instead of Snip & Sketch?

Hi! The program I primarily use at work (Harmony Toon Boom v17.0.2) does not paste directly from windows+shift+S or the new Snip & Sketch tool, but snipping tool has no issue. Is it possible to avoid windows taking snipping tool away in future updates so that I can continue to use it?

I've tried locating the .exe file in C:/System32 and copying it to a new drive but attempting to open it creates an empty error box with just a red X. Seems there are other files it depends on to function, so if there's a way to create a proper backup I'd love to figure that out!

    Hi Fluffkomix,

I'm Rodrigo, Independent Advisor and I will help you.

You can copy the Snipping Tool from System32 folder, but you have to copy the SnippingTool.exe.mui file under C:/Windows/System32/en-US,

create a new en-US folder on the location you want to save the SnippingTool.exe and paste the SnippingTool.exe.mui file inside this new en-US folder.

The en-US folder and the SnippingTool.exe should be on the same folder

It's  not going anywhere for now.   See how to enable it here if it's disabled:

I can still use it, yes. The window that shows up when I open it says that it's moving and I'd like to back up the application in case windows chooses to uninstall it at some point in the future.

The Snipping tool is still in All apps.  Look at Windows Accessories.

You do not need the file name all you need to do id to pin it to your Start and to your taskbar.
