I would like to have the system tray icon of the Task Manager started at boot in WIndows 10.

I have tried the batch file method in StackOverflow and the old Windows 7 Method it does not seem to work anymore.

Please Help.

Hi Lamak, my name is Neil, I'm an independent adviser for Microsoft and a Windows user like you.

Have you tried pinning the Task Manager to your taskbar?

Open task manager and then right click on the icon on your taskbar and choose pin to taskbar.

This will ensure that task manager is always there and just a single click away to open.

I will try and find out about loading it in your system tray if it is still possible.

    Hi Neil,

The pinning is easy, I just want to see the icon in the system try where I could just mouse over to see the stats.

It used to be possible in previous versions but with Windows 10 Microsoft has gone backwards.

Yeah, fair enough. I was just seeing if you thought of that (sometimes it's easy to overlook the easy options)...but it depends why you want to use task manager I suppose. Personally, I wouldn't want a pinned icon either :)

I've found a registry edit that I am trying right now and I'll let you know if it works or not :)

    Hi Neil,

Have not heard back from you. Has the registry edit worked for you?

Hi, I apologise for the delay. The answer is unfortunately no :(

I did go on to find a more, let's say, in-depth fix, (quite convoluted) but after trying that, I still could not get it to work.

The only way to get the effect you want is for you to press ctrl+shift+Esc to bring up Task Manager manually and then click on Options.

Then select "Hide when minimised" to put a tick next to this.

Then when you minimise the window it won't be on your taskbar and only show in the system tray with the small icon.

So getting this to be done automatically is a no as far as I can see. But quickly pressing ctrl+shift+Esc and then minimise after boot up takes me less than a few seconds.

I'm sorry I cannot be of more help!
