Office Version Number for MS Office 2019

I am confused about the MS Office 2019 version number for MS Office addins.

It's downloaded as 16.0.10336.20039 and registered in Windows' Registry as version 16 which is the version used for MS Office 2016.

Would the actual 2019's office version be 17?

    It's still version 16 to increase compatibility (technically not decrease compatibility) with applications that work with Office and check for compatibility against the version number.
