“Traditional Chinese IME is not ready yet” on Win10

Hi folks,

I have installed the language pack and added a keyboard. However, when I try to toggle between English and Chinese, a message keeps coming up saying “Traditional Chinese is not ready yet”.

How should I resolve this?

I have tried reinstalling the pack or installing another language, but none of these worked.

    Hi Lewis

My name is Andre Da Costa; an Independent Consultant, Windows Insider MVP and Windows & Devices for IT MVP. I'm here to help you with your problem.

A workaround other users say gets this working is to install an additional language pack such as French.

Try doing that then see if it works.

Press Shift + Alt to see if it then lets you switch between the languages.

I had Eng (united state) and Chinese Language with IME Pad - hand writing (c CH) installed before the recent automatic Microsoft updates, the IME Pad hand writing worked very well .  BUT after the installation of automatic updates 2 weeks ago, it is NOT working anymore.  The IME Pad is still there but it wouldn't registered on after the writing on the Pad.  It seems the updates block the installation the Hand Writing .  It says on the Language, the hand writing is installed ( but not functioning)

When I toggle the Eng/Chinese, it says " Traditional Chinese IME is not ready yet"

"Please check status from language setting"

My setting is OK, but only the language is installed BUT no hand writing in installed, thoulgh on the langage setting it says all installed - language, writing and sound .

Thanks for the help to solve the same.

Hi Lewis. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP here to help you.

I understand you already tried installing another language and reinstalling the pack.

Try uninstalling the Language packs, restart PC, create a new Local Admin account following http://www.howtogeek.com/226540/how-to-create-a..., sign into it, then try adding the Language pack to see if it works better.

If so move your files over and when ready delete the old Account in Settings > Accounts > Family & Other People.

You can then change the new account to a MS account if desired.

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5375-switch...

If not then sign back into your old account and delete the new one.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post helped you, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

I'm in an enterprise, and I was able to resolve this once I stumbled upon this.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/update/fod-and-lang-packs

*"For Windows domain environments running WSUS or SCCM, change the Specify settings for optional component installation and component repair policy to enable downloading FOD and language packs from Windows Update. This setting is located in Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System*in the Group Policy Editor."

I created a test policy, with this setting enabled, and got everything to work on my test box.

    Hope this can help someone.

    Hi,

Are there any dictionary files on your IME folder?

    i.e. *.dic in C:\Windows\IME\IME**\DICTS

If not, try copying them from other working pc's.
