Change the email address on my Microsoft Account

I added a new 2nd account on my Microsoft Account under the 2nd category: Email & Accounts, to try to change my email address so it would be correct. I spent most of the afternoon yesterday trying to do this my myself, but the instructions in Support Microsoft just kept going in circles. Now I need to delete or remove the 1st account listed under the 2nd category? Is there a way to do this quickly and easily?

Will my Microsoft Credentials update automatically? If not, I'll need to know how to update them too.

    Hinata,

Thanks for sending me instructions of making sure my Microsoft Account was showing my correct email information. I tried using the link you suggested, but I couldn't make it work. I'm not using any 365 program or the Microsoft subscriptions like Xbox Live, Outlook.com, OneDrive, or Skype. So in the settings for accounts, under the Email and Accounts heading in the Microsoft Account Settings. To the right of the four colored logo for Windows currently is my old email account; ******@comcast.net.

                                      Microsoft account,

I thought, all I need to do is add 2 characters to the email account (my new email is ******@comcast.net ). It should have been easy to update, but it wasn't. Windows 10 is making everything so complicated, it now takes double or triple the amount of time to do almost anything described as maintenance. I only want or need one ail account. I have a completely wireless Desktop that had Windows 10 Home pre-installed and I own my modem/router and connect to the internet using Wi-Fi.

Is there a way to correct my email information in a short amount of time .

    Ruth

    Hi ,Ruth 53

Sorry for not understanding your meaning correctly before.

To change the primary Microsoft account on your system, we first need to switch to a local account.

    1. Go to Settings App> Account> Your Information
    2. In the right pane of your information, click the Use a local account to log in instead of the link.
    3. Follow the instructions on the screen to switch to a local account.
    4. Once you switch to a local account, log in to that account.
    5. Go to the "Settings" app> "Accounts"> "Your Information".
    6. In the right pane of your information, click the link to sign in with a Microsoft account instead

Enter the new Microsoft account email ID at this stage.

    1. Complete the remaining instructions to switch to a Microsoft account.
