Microsoft Teams on Mac broke Logic Pro

This just started happening last week. In the middle of recording, seemingly randomly, Logic Pro will switch to a "Microsoft Teams Audio" device for input/output. I completely uninstalled Teams (have have installed and uninstalled several times since then) but Microsoft Teams Audio device will not remove itself from the audio devices on my Mac.

I've gone into ~/Library/Caches and deleted Microsoft Teams folders, and I've gone into ~/Library/Application Support/ and deleted com.microsoft.teams. Restarted many times. And it still shows itself as an option.

I called Apple Support and they said I need to "reach out to Microsoft". I tried calling their support number which just points you to the website. Anyone have any idea what I have to do to get rid of Teams?

    Dear Josh_123456 ,

    Good day ,

Thanks for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand about your question , You would like to remove "Microsoft Teams Audio" from the input / output on your mac computer. Nevertheless you already tried to remove TEAMS however its still showing on your Mac.

Would you mind to do an small test to check the behavior ? Try to create another new Mac profile and check if you its works.

NOTE : For your security and privacy , kindly don't mention any email address / password or other confidential information.

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

I have exactly the same problem. Can’t work with my logic pro X because Microsoft teams is taking over the audio all the time.

From what I hear this appeared after a update of Microsoft teams some weeks ago. When will Microsoft fix this bug that causes huge troubles for millions of Logic users?

    /Mats

    Hi

I had the same annoying problem. I also suspect this causes the cracking sound on my M1 macbook pro as a result of this driver being Intel-based and Apple having issues with Intel-based applications at the moment.

    Try this:

    1. Remove the following directories/files from your machine using the Terminal app /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/MSTeamsAudioDevice.driver /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/MSTeamsAudioDevice.driver/Contents/MacOS/MSTeamsAudioDevice
    2. Open Activity Monitor and force kill the MSTeamsAudioDevice.driver process
    3. Reboot
