I have windows Seven ultimate 64 bits

When windows is downloading its updates it kills my bandwidth.

Is there a way to limit the maximum bandwidth that windows can take for its updates ?

    Hi

    It can Not be done by the OS. There is a 3rd party software that can help in controlling Bandwidth use, but I do not know if it can control Updates traffic (http://www.netlimiter.com/betas.ph p ).

    Otherwise "play" with the time of the Update.

    Setting the bandwidth allocation for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) using the group policy setting below would be the most appropriate way of throttling the Windows Update Service.

    LCP > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Network >  Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)> Limit the maximum network bandwidth for BITS background transfers

    I’d suggest the following;

    Limit background transfer rate (kbps) to : 10

    From : 8AM

    To : 6PM

    At all other times : Use all available unused bandwidth

    Thanks.  I just implemented this in SCCM 2012 R2 from this post.  Right click default client settings, BITS Default settings has a bunch of settings you can modify very easily.
