Excel crashing when I change font or cell colour.

One of my workbooks suddenly closes every time I select the drop-down for cell of font colour. I have used the spreadsheet on another PC and it works fine, I have also tried using other spreadsheets on my tablet and the problem doesn't occur.

I have tried repairing office to no avail. Copying the contents over to a new workbook doesn't resolve the issues either.

    Hi Will

I was having the same issue for a long time.

Try changing the printing drivers (found this on a deeply hidden forum). Sometimes, the font change can't adjust because of bad printer drivers.

Try reinstalling new printer drivers. It works 2 out of 3 times for me to fix this.

Otherwise, you'll have to reset your entire laptop for it. :(

    Hope it helps,

    Prathamesh

    Hi Will,

Please try the following suggestion, check if the issue is resolved:

    1. Check if affected Excel workbook works fine in safe mode (press the control key immediately after clicking Excel icon, it should pop up a confirmation dialog to ask whether you want to start in safe mode). Reference: Open Office apps in safe mode on a Windows PC
    2. Re-start Excel in normal mode, check if you have any custom add-ins installed in Excel, click File > Options > Add-Ins. At the bottom of the dialog box, change the Manage dropdown to COM add-ins, and select Go. Clear the checkbox for any enabled COM add-ins. select OK.

If the issue persists, please provide the following information:

    1. Please provide the screenshot of Office 365 Product Information. To get this screenshot, open Excel on your system, click File>Account, capture the screenshot of all the information mentioned under Product Information. (Note : please remove any sensitive information from the screenshot such as email address or full name etc.).
    2. Do you see the same issue when you use Fill color?
    3. Do you get any error when Excel crashes? If so, please provide the screenshot of the error.
    4. Please check if you get the issue with a specific work. For the test purpose, create a new workbook and then select the drop-down for cell of font color, check if same thing happens.

    Thanks,

    Neha
