Windows 11 and Windows Home Server Connector

Hi,

I have been using WHS 1.0 for many years now and it contains all my PC backups. Most recently I have been using it with Windows 10 (originally with 7, and 8).

I have just updated my PC to Windows 11 which looks great. However the WHS connector app disappeared and Windows will not let me reinstall the connector app. Is there any way I can get this going?

Regards,

Vic Russell

    Hi Vic,

My name is Igor, I have 12 Microsoft MVP awards. It's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll do all my best to help you. I'm sorry you have a problems.

Unfortunately VHS 1.0 is too old system so its components are too old too. Sorry but you cannot use it with Windows 11.

P.S. I'd like to see WHS updating until now, but its support is discontinued unfortunately. Alas, it is displaced by clouds and NASes.

Thank you for that Igor. Disappointing news but I suppose I have had over 11 years faultless service from my WHS v1.0 (Tranquil SQA-5H to give them a plug!). I have researched a replacement but I have a lot of data and I can't find a NAS which is very quiet and has an easy way of making off site disk backups. My SQA-5H has five disk bays and the WHS software allows me to easily backup the WHS itself.

Have you any suggestions for a replacement? I am getting a bit out of date these days since I retired.

    Thanks again Igor.

    Vic

    Hi Igor,

Thanks again. I'm afraid my Russiam language skills are non-existant.

    Kind regards,

    Vic

I'm sorry, I have a poor knowledge about NASes. There are some forums with NAS discussing, you may try to look at them. Unfortunately I can point only to Russian ones.
