I keep getting this message when i try to install Call of Duty 2, Disk 1,  "Library not Registered". I have Call of Duty 1 and its expansion United Offensive installed with all updates for them and they run perfectly, as well as Call of Duty 4  Modern Warfare, but COD2 wont even begin to load from the first disk, at all...just the library message appears, and then after a min or 2, windows says this is not responding and closes the program. The computer i"m running is brand new with windows7 home premium 64 bit already installed on it, my 52nd birthday present, and is set up for gaming. here are the computer stats/components :

AMD Phenom II 945 Quad-Core proccessor..........8 GB DDR3 system memory..........SuperMulti DVD burner w/lightscribe technology..........1 Terabyte hard drive..........NVIDIA GeForce GT220 graphics card w/1 GB dedicated graphics memory..........Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit...............its a HP Pavillion Elite  HPE-130f PC

I haven't added anything to the computer...dont want to mess it up....its all the stuff it came with when it was purchased. I contacted Activision, but the seem to b affaid of windows 7  more then i am ( old comp was winxp w/sp3). Do you know why this and what this message means and how i might be able to fix the problem. I checked with compatibility and seems to be compatible. Ty for your time to read this, and any response would be appreciated.

    Hi isdahl,

    1. Make sure the account admin rights to install the game.

Don't run the autorun.exe file when you put the DVD/CD’ s in, instead go to my computer then CD/DVD drive and manually find the setup.exe file and run that to install. When you run the setup file also be sure to right click and run it as an admin.

Let us know if you are able to install the game.

Regards, Manasa P – Microsoft Support.

If you don't know the vista fix, click Start, control panel, hardware and sound, click on sound then click on the recording TAB.  Right click on any of the space in the Tab itself, when show disable devices pops up click on that to show them.  stereo mix will show itself in the tab, right click on that and enable it.

Just remember, insert the CD, do not autorun the install just right click on the setup icon in the CD itself and open a new window.  run it as an administrator and install.  After that, go ahead and Install the latest Patch 1.3 for Call of Duty 2.  when all is said and done do not forget to change the compatibility mode to Windows Vista service Pack 2 and do what I call the Vista fix.

Note to Microsoft:  The Windows XP mode is an excellent idea except you dropped the ball twice, #1- should have had a version of it to accompany windows 7 home premium for issues such as this for the public #2- You should enable a way to bump up the video settings inside of the windows XP mode,In short make a windows operating system that will play any game out there that was ever made for the PC.

I got this same message with a game I recently purchased, 'The Movies'. I too have Win 7 HP but 32-bit. I did the same with it so I'm able to play it.

Lukeanm, I couldn't agree with you more. I did the OS upgrade (Vista to 7) and I'm also having problems with Sim City 4. funny, it ran excellent on vista but when I made the upgrade to 7 the game crashes while loading a city, any city.
