Hi there, I was wondering if I could get an explanation for how to opt out of the new recall ai feature due to the security and privacy issues that it will cause. will there be an opt out option in windows 11 in the settings. if not, what are the legal ramifications for this breach in personal privacy for the use of training an ai off of personal information. How does this new feature know whether or not you are posting important private information like passwords, social security numbers, bank statements, etc.

    Hi Daunte,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

Recall feature is only for new devices announced yesterday using NPU and Copilot+ PCs - it will not come to the existing PCs as far as I know.

Also, for new PCs, Microsoft has stated that there will be a toggle for Recall as well. Moreover, if you submit a file or document to the existing AI solutions by Microsoft, it removes PII automatically.

Hope that helps, and rely on us for any further inquiries. All the best.

It is against the law to take a screenshot of somebodies private medical information. This seems like a lawsuit in the waiting.

Whether NPU or new PC or copilot, its privacy breach. I think the team which developed this feature did not consider people would question such a feature?

I would like to know what was idea behind such a feature on the positive side.
