Hi,

We have a requirement to add a reminder to the Outlook calendar.

We are using Microsoft work accounts.

When click on add to Outlook calendar from our web application, the following happens

  1. If we are already signed in to Outlook, then the calendar event page loads fine
  2. If Outlook is signed out, then it takes us to the Outlook sign-in page and when we sign in, the link to the calendar event is lost, rather we are presented with the Outlook mail page

After logging in, the expected deep link is below

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/outlook/email-and-calendar-software-microsoft-outlook?deeplink=%2fowa%2f0%2f%3fstate%3d1%26redirectTo%3daHR0cHM6Ly9vdXRsb29rLmxpdmUuY29tL2NhbGVuZGFyLzAvZGVlcGxpbmsvY29tcG9zZS8_Ym9keT1EZXNjcmlwdGlvbitmb3IrdGhlK3RyZWF0bWVudC4mc3ViamVjdD1Ub2RheSt5b3UrYXJlK3NjaGVkdWxlZCt3aXRoK3RoZSt0cmVhdG1lbnQmc3RhcnRkdD0yMDI0MDkyMyU1Y1QlNWMwMDAwMDAlNWNaJTVjJmVuZGR0PTIwMjQwOTIzJTVjVCU1YzIzNTk1OSU1Y1olNWM&sdf=0

Instead of the above link, we are navigated to this https://outlook.office365.com/mail/****

We are not presented with any error page, rather we are navigated to the outlook mail page instead of calendar event.

You have Microsoft Outlook Version 1.2024.725.400 (Production).

Client Version is 20240802003.16.

WebView2 Version is 127.0.2651.98.

Session ID is 7efa69a4-32a0-0642-a751-085915921379.

Thanks

Jonah

    Hello Jonathan P B,

Thank you for posting this case in Microsoft Community!

Based on your description: Outlook calendar event link is not working and is redirecting you to the outlook mail page instead of calendar. I would like to cooperate with you working on this case. To clarify this case, please help to collect following information for further investigation:

    • Do you mean that you are facing this issue with received email attached .ics file after clicking Add to Calendar?

    • Have you tried with Classic Outlook for Windows and New Outlook for Windowsif also getting the same case?
    • Have you tried with different browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Googlge Chrome and so on to sign in Outlook on the web if getting the same case?

For my suggestion, you may try to clear up the cache, browser reseting etc and also check with different browsers if there is any difference. Then you may also check this article Add a calendar in Outlook on the web and try other method to add the event to your Outlook calendar as below steps:

    1. Firstly, you may go to Outlook calendar and click Add calendaroptions.

    1. In Add calendarwindow, you can try to Subscribe from web options. And you also can choose Upload from file with your .ics file saved on local drive.

Please understand that the initial response may not resolve your case directly, but you can try my workaround and provide more useful information for further assistance, please feel free to let me know, I will keep assisting you.

Your understanding and patience will be appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hi,

Our requirement is slightly different, we have a web application on Salesforce experience cloud where the users are setting up a reminder and then adding the reminder to the outlook calendar.

After logging in, the expected deep link is below https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/outlook/email-and-calendar-software-microsoft-outlook?deeplink=%2fowa%2f0%2f%3fstate%3d1%26redirectTo%3daHR0cHM6Ly9vdXRsb29rLmxpdmUuY29tL2NhbGVuZGFyLzAvZGVlcGxpbmsvY29tcG9zZS8_Ym9keT1EZXNjcmlwdGlvbitmb3IrdGhlK3RyZWF0bWVudC4mc3ViamVjdD1Ub2RheSt5b3UrYXJlK3NjaGVkdWxlZCt3aXRoK3RoZSt0cmVhdG1lbnQmc3RhcnRkdD0yMDI0MDkyMyU1Y1QlNWMwMDAwMDAlNWNaJTVjJmVuZGR0PTIwMjQwOTIzJTVjVCU1YzIzNTk1OSU1Y1olNWM&sdf=0 Instead of the above link, we are navigated to this https://outlook.office365.com/mail/

We are not presented with any error page, rather we are navigated to the outlook mail page instead of calendar event.

    Thanks

    Hello Jonah,

Thank for your reply and sharing more information!

It sounds like that your web application on Salesforce experience cloud is not integrated into Outlook calendar well. For my understanding, this may be related to account authentication which requires your email account signed in Outlook on the web. Since you are using third-party web application, it is suggested that you may contact web application provider side for further assistance as they have more resources working on this case.

Again, your understanding and patience will be appreciated.

    Thank you!
