Two OneDrive folders in File Explorer

Hi. I installed OneDrive and signed into a work account. Two OneDrive folders appeared in File Explorer. This is not normal.

One folder is named "OneDrive - Company" It syncs.

The other folder is just named "OneDrive". When clicked, a new File Explorer window opens, opens to the OneDrive - Company folder.

How do I get rid of the extraneous "OneDrive" folder? I already tried uninstalling OneDrive and reinstalling. No change.

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you. 

Per the description shared, I would like to summarize your concern i.e., you have setup the OneDrive work account on your computer but you have two OneDrive folder in the Navigation page of File Explore one with OneDrive - Company name and another with just OneDrive; clicking on the OneDrive will take you to the work OneDrive folder.

If my understanding is correct, please follow the below steps to hide the OneDrive from the Navigation pane of the Windows File Explorer:

  1. Hold Windows key and press R
  2. Type regedit.exe and press Enter
  3. Go to this location HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace
  4. Locate the folders that hasOneDrive entry in it (from the left pane). You can click the folders one by one and look at the right pane to see the name of the registry. It should say OneDrive. Copy or note the name of this folder somewhere (Note: Please don't copy the folder name containing OneDrive - Company instance)
  5. Now navigate to this path *HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID* by double clicking HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and then double clicking CLSID folder
  6. Locate the folder with the same name as that of OneDrive folder (that you noted in step 4).
  7. Click the folder
  8. Double click the entry (right pane) named System.IsPinnedtoNameSpaceTree

   9. Make its value **0** and click **Ok**Hope the above steps will help you to hide the OneDrive folder and if you need further help, please feel free to post back to us.

    Thanks. I am uncomfortable working with Registry. I thought there would be a more "consumer" solution. The double instance of OneDrive does not happen on my laptop or my earlier Windows 10 desktop.

    The solution, instead of editing the Registry, is logging out of your old personal Onedrive Account and deactivating the connection by stopping the sync, before logging into the new one. If you already did log in into the new one, without doing the above, you;ll have 2 active Onedrive folders. One syncing (the new work related one you mentioned) and the inactive one which you mentioned was your personal one.

    The process is called Unlinking and the steps are the following:

    Unlink OneDrive

    You won't lose files or data by unlinking OneDrive from your computer. You can always access your files by signing in to OneDrive.com.

    Windows

    1. Open OneDrive settings (select the OneDrive cloud icon in your notification area, and then select the OneDrive Help and Settings icon  then Settings.)
    2. Go to the Account tab.
    3. Select Unlink this PC.

    macOS

    1. Click the OneDrive cloud icon up in your Menu bar, click the three dots  to open the menu, and select Preferences.
    2. Go to the Account tab.
    3. Select Unlink this PC.
