Via This error commonly occurs when you’re trying to add a music library share using the Sonos apps for macOS or Windows, specifically when choosing either the “Music folder” or “Another folder or drive connected to my computer” options. These methods of sharing a music folder are no longer supported.
To fix this error, follow the steps below to add your music folder via its network path instead:
Manually share your music folder on your local network by following the instructions in one of these articles:
Share your Windows music folder with Sonos
Share your music folder in Windows
In File Explorer, navigate to the folder containing your music files.
Right click on your music folder and select Properties.
In the Properties window, select the Sharing tab.
Select Advanced Sharing, then check the box next to Share this folder.
Select Permissions and look for your new local account listed under “Group or user names.”
If the new local account is not listed, select Add… and then type in the name of the account under “Enter the object names to select.” You can select Check Names to make sure Windows is adding the correct user account.
With your local account selected, make sure the Allow box is checked next to the Read permission.
Select the Everyone group and make sure there isn’t a checked box in the Deny column for the Read permission.
Select OK to get back to the Properties window.
The music folder is now shared on your local network. You should now see that your music folder has a “Shared” status.
You’ll also see a Network Path listed in the same window. Take note of this network path, as you’ll be using it to add your music folder to Sonos. The network path should be in the following format: \Hostname\Folder Name
Add your shared music folder to Sonos using its network path.
If you’re adding a music library on a NAS drive, Error 913 means the NAS drive is sharing its music folder using an unsupported sharing protocol like SMBv1. To resolve this, adjust your NAS drive’s settings to share your music folder using SMBv2 or SMBv3, then try to add your music library again. Consult your NAS drive’s manual for information on how to check or change the SMB setting.
Hope that helps, and rely on us for any further inquiries. All the best.
