Outlook won't open what does this error mean?

I keep getting the following error.

[ Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window.

The set of folders cannot be opened. Network problems are preventing connection to Microsoft Exchange.]

I've tried everything including deleting my original folder storage location. Does anyone know what's wrong or how to cure this?

Outlook won't even open now. I don't remember exactly how/why this started to happen. (I'm 80 years old)

Please help!

    Dear laubin,

Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the community.

I understand that you are unable to open Outlook and that this is causing you problems, and I understand how you feel.

First of all, I need to explain to you that when you encounter this kind of problem, it is usually an error in the mailbox connection in Outlook.

In order to better understand the situation of your problem, I need you to share some details of the issue with us:

What version of Outlook are you using? (Is it Classic Outlook?)

For more information, see the following link: What version of Outlook do I have? - Microsoft Support

If you are using Classic Outlook:

You can try adding a new profile and reconfiguring your mailbox.

Open the Control Panel, select the “Large Icons” view, click on “Mail (Microsoft Outlook)”, click on “Show Profiles”, add a new profile.

Then open Outlook, select the profile you added, and reconfigure your mailbox.

If you are concerned about operational errors, you can try contacting customer support and seeking their assistance:

    1. Open the website: Contact - Microsoft Support
    2. Enter Outlook in the box below "We're here for you", click "Get Help", and then click "Contact Customer Support" below, (this status must be logged in to your Microsoft account, if you haven't logged in, you can follow step 3)
    3. In this section, you need to sign in to your personal Microsoft account

    Note: You canonly log in with your personal MSA, and you can't display the correct content when you log in with your company account. If the account cannot be logged in, you can use another account or create a new account to execute;

    1. Select "Other Products" in Products & Services, select "Outlook " as a category, and click Confirm
    2. You can select "Chat in a web browser and support specialist" to enter the chat window.

Please contact support during business hours.

Thank you for your patience and support.

    Have a great day.

    Best Regards,

Linda.L-MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
