    Hi Hacker007,

Please see if your laptop is listed in the “HP Notebook PC Battery Pack Replacement Program” :

    Hi Hacker007,

The issue you are experiencing with the battery life could be an issue with the battery, AC adapter and/or the motherboard. You can try resetting the battery data as outlined by Nano Warp in this thread. Otherwise, your best option would be to have the battery replaced as Gokul proposed.

Don't listen to them, Hacker, it's a Windows bug but Microsoft is trying to deflect it (and they wonder why no one wants to buy they're crappy Surface).  This 'plugged in not charging' thing is huge, it's widespread, and it's making people buy lots of batteries and chargers.

My Win7 HP laptop does it, it does it with my old battery, with my new battery, and with two different chargers.  I discovered that I can make it charge correctly by doing a clean shut-down of Win7, close the laptop (ie, take Microsoft OUT of the picture) then, plug in the charger and leave it over night.  It's completely charged in the morning, and it will continue to charge correctly for a week or two before Win7 screws it up again.
