Turn Automatic Replies for Office 365 Groups

I have created an Office 365 Group to share and collaborate on documents with around 30 different external contacts. Whenever I add a new external user to the group as a Guest they receive an email to notify them from ******@company.com. This is great because they receive an email from the group email and there is a clear link to access the documents.

The problem is, when I add a new external contact to the group as a 'Guest' and they have an automatic reply, the WHOLE group receives this automatic reply. When I initially set up the group I added around 20 external guests, around half of which, had automatic replies on so everyone in that group immediately received 10 Out of Office messages which was not ideal.

Speaking with Microsoft Support (they had no idea what they were doing) there didn't seem to be a switch for this - is there a known workaround for this problem?

Hello Fae B,

Based on my experience, there is no option about how to turn off the auto reply For Office 365 Groups. Please try the PowerShell cmdlets described in the article: Set-MailboxAutoReplyConfiguration.

If it doesn't meet your requirement, we suggest you submit a feedback here to let our related team know it. We welcome you feedback on our products.

Regards,

Rudy
