Hi all.. Today after I updated my surface pro, my monitor is stuck in a 640x480 resolution. Which is no good with a 49 inch Samsung monitor. If I plug in the HDMI, it works, but, resolution is not that good like it was on the Displayport. Any tips or tricks to get it working again? For some reason it shows 'Flat Panel, 640x480' when using display port, but the samsung drivers when using HDMI.

I am using the surface dock as well. I tried the displayport of the monitor with other computers and it's working fine. Not with surface. Really need help with this one!

Same here, external monitor stopped working after the recent updates.

Works fine with other non-SP7 devices.

Cleaned the display cache, no go.

Tried removing the monitor in Device Manager, updating the monitor driver, still the same.

And yes, dock firmware is latest.

    Cheers.

    Hi Jeremy Pretty,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.

You mentioned that you are also using a Surface dock and the monitor's resolution is still stuck on 640 x 480 resolution. Well, I'd like to know if you also updated the firmware of the Surface dock and if you have tried disconnecting the monitor from the dock as well as from your Surface Pro 7.

If you haven't disconnected it, you can simply do that but I would like you to clear the display cache first before reconnecting it again. To clear the display cache,  you can simply follow the solutions highlighted in this link: Troubleshoot Connecting To A Second Screen. See Solution # 5 to clear the display cache.

On the other hand, I would like to know what kind of dock is it. See pictures below .

Disconnect/reconnect the monitor and see if this works right this time.

If this helps, please let our Community by marking this post as an answer. Otherwise, don't hesitate to respond to this thread for assistance.

    Hi Jeremy Pretty,

    Sorry for the delayed response.

Can you take a screenshot of the display settings of your Surface device please and include it in your next reply or include it in your feedback.

If the option to change the resolution to recommended or other screen resolution options are being greyed-out, it would be best if you can send a feedback to our software engineers by sending a feedback to Microsoft using the Feedback Hub app to have it escalated.

    Kind Regards,

    Crest_Z
