Hello,

I have this issue in Project 2013 where I have a T & M project. I have baslined the project once the schedule was created and finalized. I now have a few tasks where the Tasks completed less than the estimated time.

For Example, i have one development task with estimated time of 8 hrs. But developer has managed to complete this in 5 hrs.

So I opened the Task Usage Info. screen and entered the 5 hrs and made the Task Completion to 100%. But as soon as I do this the Actual Work automatically getting changed to 8 hrs. I tried different Task Types to see whether this would change but it keeps going back trying equal Work to Actual Work.

Can you please help me as this is the first time i am working on a T & M project in MS Project and it is really frustrating 'cos it is a very simple task variation in a project ?

thanks in advance.

Use the tracking table. Enter actual start and finish date/time, so that actual duration = 5 hours, remaining duration = 0 hours, and in the work table check actual work = 5 hours and remaining work = 0 hours. In the task usage view, right click on the grid and show actual work and remaining work.
