Hello All,

Following the post Custom learning for Office 365 I thought I would bring to you another awesome kit that can help your users with adopting SharePoint Online. You can find this open-source project and download from GitHub and you can reuse any of these assets any way you want in your own work.

SharePoint Communication Sites have great out-of-the-box capabilities, but the out-of-the-box capabilities may not always be sufficient for your scenarios. This solution addresses common scenarios and tasks you may encounter when introducing those customizations, and provides examples and guidance on how you might address them including:

Automated provisioning of simple demo content within a communication site

Automated provisioning of the whole solution to any tenant within minutes

Automated configuration of Site Scripts and Site Designs at the tenant level using the PnP Remote Provisioning engine

Implementation of different customizations for SharePoint Online

Usage of Office UI Fabric and reusable PnP SPFx controls within the customizations

Here are current pre-requirements for making this solution work in your tenant.

You will need to be a tenant administrator to be able to deploy this solution

Notice that you can get free developer tenant from Office 365 developer program.

Automatic end-to-end provisioning only works with English tenants

All solutions and web parts are also English in the current implementation

For tenants that have English but have a different default language, the term set provisioning may be modified to assist with installation.

Release preferences for your tenant will need to be set as "Targeted release for everyone" option (also known as First Release)

Add the used tenant administrator account as Term Store Administrator in the Taxonomy Term Store through the SharePoint Admin Center

A tenant 'App Catalog' must have been created within the 'Apps' option of the SharePoint Admin Center

Hello All,

Here are some quick rule to explain it very clearly on how the limits work:

If creating Solution flows the limit is unlimited (If you do not see that tab then see this article) this is what we recommend as a best practice and recommend you take this path to create all flows in the future.

If creating flows under My Flows tab (Includes Team and Business Process flows) then there is a warning set at 250, you can contact support to increase to 500 and at some point in the future they plan to increase max to 600. NOTE: Licensing has no impact on these limits.

You can read more about the solutions here

Next question was changing ownership using PowerShell you can write a script based on this example:

NOTE: 1) These PowerShell modules are in Preview and can change often and dramatically, 2) You cannot remove original owner

Hello All,

If you receive Microsoft Flow Team Newsletter (See latest here) you may have noticed that we have recently added 6 new connectors and I’m going to focus primarily on ‘Microsoft Graph Security (Preview)’ connector.

First of all this connector can be used in Flow, PowerApps, and Logic Apps.

Next understand that the Microsoft Graph Security API is a service that provides an interface to connect multiple Microsoft Graph Security providers and return aggregated results to your App. This has the benefits of:

Rich alert metadata.

Better alert correlation.

Unified threat management, prevention, and risk management across various security solutions.

Alerts, actions, and customer threat intelligence exposed through Microsoft Graph.

Instant integration with Microsoft Graph-enabled solutions.

Gain deep security insights to train other security solutions.

Connect to the API via the following methods:

Write code https://aka.ms/graphsecurityapicode

Connect using scripts https://aka.ms/graphsecuritypowershellsample

Drag and drop into workflows and playbooks https://aka.ms/graphsecurityconnectorsblogpost

Get data into reports and dashboards https://aka.ms/graphsecuritypowerbiconnectordoc

Connect using Jupyter notebooks https://aka.ms/graphsecurityjupyternotebooks

Here are some reasons why we would use the Microsoft Graph API it allows us to more readily realize and enrich the value of these solutions. We can connect easily with the Microsoft Graph Security API by using one of the following approaches, depending on the requirements:

Unify and standardize alert tracking:

Connect once to integrate alerts from any Microsoft Graph-integrated security solution and keep alert status and assignments in sync across all solutions. We can also stream alerts to security information and event management (SIEM) solutions.

Correlate security alerts to improve threat protection and response:

Correlate alerts across security solutions more easily with a unified alert schema. This not only allows us to receive actionable alert information but allows security analysts to pivot and enrich alerts with asset and user information, enabling faster response to threats and asset protection.

Update alert tags, status, and assignments:

Tag alerts with additional context or threat intelligence to inform response and remediation. Ensure that comments and feedback on alerts are captured for visibility to all workflows.

Unlock security context to drive investigation:

Dive deep into related security-relevant inventory (like users, hosts, and apps), then add organizational context from other Microsoft Graph providers (Azure AD, Microsoft Intune, Office 365) to bring business and security contexts together and improve threat response.

Automate security workflows and reporting:

Automate security management, monitoring, and investigations to improve operational efficiencies-and response times.

Get deep insights to train security solutions:

Visualize data across different security products running in the organization to get deeper security insights.

Was working on a governance project ands felt like I should share this...

Hello All,

Was working on a governance project ands felt like I should share this gem.

Addressing behavior change

When trying to change an organization’s habits we will quickly realize that the reason many organizations struggle is because it’s hard work to instill successful change. Whether we are changing individual habits or an entire organization’s habits, the key is to plan carefully and build a proper foundation for the change. Through planning, implementing change becomes easier and your chances of success are greatly improved.

To enable successful change, there are suggested steps for success:

Create a sense of urgency (Not an environment of frenzied work and endless meetings). This is about creating more communication in the workplace to explain the change initiative and may include a web page dedicated to the project, regular e-mail blasts about the change initiative, a bulletin board to solicit feedback, perhaps a Yammer/Teams, or other techniques through in-person or social media connections.

Find effective and powerful change leaders in your organization. These change leaders will be found at all levels of the organization. Sometimes I find that the best change leaders are the people at the very bottom of the totem pole. They tend to see and hear much more of the ‘daily grind’ than those in the upper positions and are well positioned to recruit supporters for organization-wide change initiatives.

Build and communicate a vision. We need to ask Why is the change important? What impact will it create for the organization? If we aren’t certain about the answers to those questions, it will be difficult to communicate how the change will impact the organization or how the change will be implemented. Work with change leaders in your organization to develop the strategy and then walk the talk. Communicate your change strategy, so that staff understand the organization’s common objectives. What we do is far more important and believable than what we say. Demonstrating the kind of behavior that we want from others in our organization will impact the success of the change initiative.

Remove obstacles to change. This means converting the organization’s resisters and continually checking for barriers to change. Empower people to execute the vision by recognizing and rewarding those that make change happen; and help the resisters through coaching.

Look for quick wins. This will serve to motivate everyone. With a huge project planned, don’t wait until the entire project is completed five years down the road to congratulate everybody for the great job they’ve done. Look at perhaps every three or six months to do casual get-togethers and reward those people that have really made a difference to the project.

Continue building momentum. It is very important to keep building momentum for the project until the change initiative is solidly grounded in ‘maintenance’ and is no longer in ‘development’ or ‘project’ mode this is shown by a Harvard study that found that the failure rate for change initiatives is two out of every three. After every milestone is reached in the project, analyze what went right and what needs to occur to keep improving.

Integrate the change initiative into the organization’s culture. Once the project is implemented, it becomes part of routine and is integrated into the organization’s culture. However, keeping the change initiative “on the agenda” is an easy way to ensure that the change is no longer new. It becomes engrained into daily routine and, as a result, a successful change.

Hello All,

I’m very excited to let you know that starting Q1 2019 we will be rolling out the upgrade to Microsoft Stream. The upgrade at this point is an Opt-in so if you do nothing you will remain in Office 365 Video till it becomes a forced upgrade.

What to expect?

Office 365 Video admins will see a banner in the Office 365 Video homepage prompting initiation of the migration wizard.

Self-service wizard will guide admins through the migration process when they opt in. During this process, we will migrate all the videos, channels and permissions to Microsoft Stream.

Note: Please note that once started, the migration wizard process cannot be paused and restarted later.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q – What is Microsoft Stream?
A – is a new video service that uses the power of intelligent enterprise video to enable knowledge sharing, easier communication, and connectivity in a secure enterprise environment. Microsoft Stream is the successor to Office 365 Video; however, the two services will co-exist during the transition period. Both are built on Azure Media Services and use the same streaming video technology, allowing playback at scale across any device.

Q – What’s the difference between Stream and O365?
A – Review the feature breakdown comparing Microsoft Stream and O365 Video here.

Q – How long takes the migration?
A – The migration shouldn’t take too long but depending on how many videos and channels you have it could take few days to finish the copy.

Q – How can I initiate the migration and what’s the experience?
A – Once your tenant is eligible for migration, tenant admins will see the banner on the Office Video homepage to initiate migration. Users will land in the migration experience and they will get information about what to expect during the migration

Q – How do you verify the migration before it’s finalized?
A – Only the Stream admins and users on the migration reviewer list will see the migrated content in its read-only state in Stream before the migration is finalized. This will give that set of user’s time to verify everything looked good and moved over correctly.

Q – What are "Stream only" groups?
A – ''Stream only'' groups are a new concept which we introduced with the migration from Office 365 Video to Stream. These groups live within Stream only and are not tied to Office 365 groups, thus they do not create other resources in the rest of O365.

Hello All,

Recently this article was highlighted in one of our Yammer groups and I think it’s important to make sure you read and understand it. The article is done by Chris McNulty and here is the highlights, but check it out as he has some great Q&A.

Starting Apr 1, 2019 admins will no longer be able to restrict Classic mode on Lists and Libraries.

What this means is that for those lists and Libraries that are in classic mode because of Tenant restrictions will convert to Modern mode automatically. There are some cases where lists and libraries will not convert to Modern mode:

If the list or library uses a feature not supported in modern (Read this for more info)

If the Site Admin (or List creator) uses the switch to opt-out of Modern mode (Read this for more info)

Remember users will benefit from enhancements and new features such as attention views, PowerApps integration, Flow, column formatting, and the filters pane. However if you really want to you can take some actions:

Using SharePoint Modernization Scanner identify those sites that will and won’t change (Find the tool here)

Use a PowerShell script to set the switch to remain in Classic mode (See here)
