This is what happens after the holidays
I start to care about stuff that would ordinarily bug me. For example: Iowa caucuses. I was trying to read the words on the screen at the Pro Club last night after my shuffle de-juiced. It's actually quite interesting how the whole thing works. The bargaining and strategery. And it takes place at schools. And it's in, like, Iowa; a state that many of us have not developed a relationship with. Full of surprises? Check! I'm so ready to put this election thing on fast forward. But I have to say that I am super happy with the results. My person won for my party and the guy from the other party that won? Well, I don't want to barf when I see his face on TV. That could change but we will see what happens.
Also what happens after the holidays is this Seahawk craziness. Brutal honesty time: I don't care. Twelfth man, wear blue, blah, blah blah. Only chance that I will be watching the game is if I am in need of some socializing this weekend. Must be purely social; must be able to talk throughout the game, must not have to pretend I care, must be able to mention that Lofa Tatupu and Mike Holmgren went to USC and have people actually act like they care back.
And the third clue that the holidays are over: hard to find parking at the Pro Club. Wow! See you next week, New years resolutions jokers, but probably not in February. Yeah, they are taking MY locker and MY treadmill and haven't fully perfected the practice of not making that much eye contact (people!). There was even one dude talking on his cell phone while he was on the elliptical. It defies reason but I am guessing that it's not because he's really important. My guess is that he was trying to impress upon someone how serious he is about his new healthy lifestyle. Put...the...cellphone....down. Gah!
And finally, my sleep schedule is back on track. Whee! A little less alcohol, a little more working out, a little less audio/visual overload. I feel so much better. To the extent that it's still dark outside and I have been online for almost an hour and a half. I'm just glad that we don't have to do that holidays thing again any time soon.
