The purpose of this blog is to cover the different accounts / service accounts that are needed/required in a Microsoft Identity Manager 2016 solution.  Documented here are these accounts for an Identity Manager solution with explanation of their responsibilities.

The installation of the Identity Management software requires elevated privileges and special permissions on SQL Server.  Many times, a standard user and/or a service account does not have all of the necessary permissions to execute an installation of the Microsoft Identity Management product and/or update.  This is why we feel it is a good idea to have an installation account that can be utilized for the sole purpose of Product Installation, Service Pack Installation and/or Hotfix (Cumulative Update) Installation.  Once the installation is completed, the recommendation would be to disable the account until you have another update installation to execute.

This account will need the following permissions for the purpose of the installation.
<table>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td><b>NOTE</b></td>
<td style="background-color: #9cc3e5">It is important to note that these permissions are required for the account executing the installation for the purpose of installation.  Once the installation is complete, then these permissions can be removed if they are not needed for the account that is executing the installation.  This is important to note in case you choose not to have an actual installation account, but to use a service account and/or another user account.</td>

<ul>

<ul>
 	<li>The goal here is to update the proxyAddresses attribute on a User and/or Contact object with the value that is in the targetAddress attribute only if the proxyAddresses attribute does not contain a primary SMTP.  This should only happen for objects that are coming from a specific OU.</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
<h1><b>RESOLUTION</b></h1>
To achieve this, you will need to create a new Custom Synchronization Rule in Azure AD Connect Sync (Sync Rule Editor).

<em> (e.g. The snapshot below is from my lab that I worked on this solution)</em>

<img src="https://msdnshared.blob.core.windows.net/media/2018/05/NEWSYNCRULEPIC.png" alt="" width="839" height="33" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4735" />
<h1><b>HOW TO STEPS</b></h1>
<ul>
 	<li>In the Synchronization Rules Editor, click the <b>Add New Rule</b> button in the upper right to add a new <b>Inbound</b> Synchronization Rule</li>
 	<li>DESCRIPTION TAB
<ol>
 	<li>Provide the information needed for this Synchronization Rule.  (Example Picture from my lab)

<td style="background-color: #bdd7ee"><b>PRECEDENCE</b>:
This refers to Sync Rule Precedence.  The order in which the Sync Rule is executed if in Scope.

The key to remember here, is that the lower the Precedence Number, the later in the Synchronization Process it is executed.  The higher the Precedence Number, the earlier in the Synchronization Process it is executed.

Basically, if you build this out and you see it not updating, the first thing to check is the Sync Rule Precedence.

It is extremely important to note that this script will delete objects in the Service and Portal.  Once the user object is removed, until it is populated again into the Service and Portal that user will not have access to the Portal.Additionally, we highly recommend testing any process like this in a staging and/or testing environment prior to executing in production.  This is to safe guard your data.
