iPhone Ads vs reality

An interesting video showing the difference between the functions performed in the Apple 3G iPhone Ads and the time it takes in the real world....

Compared to my HTC Tytn 2 I'd rather have either of them, it's the slowest phone I've ever owned even my old Nokia from 1997 works faster.  I have a Hermes (Orange SPV M3100) and that works like lightning, first phone 'downgrade' I've ever had.  It'll be an iPhone for me next time and I bought the HTC ones for Windows Mobile but when they run this slow.....

Forgot to say that's with the Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade, it's slighter faster but still unbearable, I took a longer contract on the strength of the experience I had with the Hermes but wish I hadn't!  I'm almost at the point of writing it off and just getting another phone.

neon2k - that's certainly not my experience so far with the TyTn 2 - I've always found it much faster/better than it's predecessor (as you'd expect)

I wonder if it's because it's an Orange one?  The 6.1 upgrade has helped but it can often be a frustrating experience, before the 6.1 upgrade a used to send lots of blank text messages because after the screen hadn't responded for 5 seconds I pushed the soft key again and it took that as send!  Don't get me wrong I'm bashing it because it's MS I love(d) the M3100 and if I can get my hands on a Diamond and see if that's ok I might get that next.  Be interesting to know if anyone else has found the TyTn slower?  (I about the 3D driver issues ;o)

I really enjoy your blog but I don't think you should be too hasty playing the 'advertising vs. reality' card when MS produced this work of fiction: http://www.microsoft.com/systemcenter/mobile/evaluation/demo/module_1/main.htm The fact that 'Jeremy' in the video only knows he's run out of coffee by turning his mug upside down should be an indication of how capable he would be of a) managing to implement SCMDM successfully and b) deploy more than one device without ballsing it up :-) Less of the Apple bashing, it doesn't do any favours.

Pete - I'm not intending to Apple bash just share some of the amusing and interesting articles.   I'll have a chat with 'Jeremy' and see if we can get him on some MCP exams as well as educating him on how to check if his mug is full ;)
