People Moving Business Awards on BBC News 24 - Mobile and Flexible working

Yesterday my colleague James McCarthy appeared on BBC News 24 (not Crimewatch much to my suprise) talking about the People Moving Business Awards that we are sponsoring.

The People Moving Business Awards are championing best practices in flexible and mobile working.

The research we've been doing really highlights the importance of mobile working:

73% of people consider the ability to work flexibly a deciding factor when choosing a new job

52% of workers believe they would enjoy a less stressful working life as a benefit of working remotely

A recent FutureLabs report revealed that 60% of those questioned said working away from the office makes work easier.

This is becoming increasingly more important the new generation of workers - 64% of 18-34 year olds saying that mobile working is important to how they are able to do their job at the present time compared to 24.5% of over 55 year olds.

A mixture of uncertainty of how to implement, the availability of the right technologies and the acceptance of mobile working as a legitimate business practice by both employers and employees.

The Microsoft survey showed that despite 73% of people considering the ability to work remotely incredible important at present only 16% of businesses have a formal flexible-working policy in place.

Does your company allow you to work flexibly?
