Dej Vu and Windows SharePoint Services
I’ve had Deja Vu with a couple of customers this week I’ve demoed Windows SharePoint Services and they’ve liked it.
I’ve asked if they already have Windows Server 2003 – “Yes” comes the reply.
Do you have a Windows Server 2003 Client Access License? – “Yes” comes the reply.
Do you know you already have the rights to use it? – “No” comes the reply.
Which is a real shame because it’s both a fantastic opportunity for our customers and our partners. And it’s also a real threat for our partners.
Why? Well if I was a partner I’d be ringing round potential customers to see if they’ve purchased Windows Server 2003. I’d then be asking the customer if they realised they’d got the rights to use Windows SharePoint Services. If the answer was no I’d take that opportunity to get my foot in the door.
So just as a gentle reminder you can download it from here.
There’s also the 33 additional templates you can get for free and use as they are, customise them or extend them.
And what’s the best way to sell it? Use it yourself. Get it set up internally. Set up some Workspaces so you can collaborate with your customers.
If you need any assistance with getting up to speed with WSS, demoing it, finding case studies, closing opportunities .. .. .. then let me know.
