Setting up the blog...

Hello there. My name is Jason and I'm the new Setup PM on the Longhorn SDK team. Our team encompasses several different SDKs, including the WinFX SDK, the Win 32 SDK and the Platform SDK. As the Setup PM, my assignment spans all the different SDKs that our team releases. One of my objectives with this blog is to begin to engage with our users and get a feel for their opinions about their setup experiences with our SDKs and get some feedback about what works and doesn't work for you.

I know that traditionally setup is one of those aspects of the process that people tend to ignore. I know that's the way I've always approached setup in the past. But moving into this job has helped to make me more sensitive to the fact that setup is important. Ideally, if setup is created well, it will be an almost invisible and seamless experience for users. I'm curious to get some feedback on good and bad experiences you've had with feedback, whether with our SDKs or with other products. From there hopefully you can help me get a better idea of designing better systems in the future. We have some cool ideas we've been thinking about and it would be great to see what our users think of them.

As for me, I come to the LHSDK after spending five years on the MSDN online and offline Libraries. While there, I built and managed content on msdn.microsoft.com/library, winfx.msdn.microsoft.com/library and whidbey.msdn.microsoft.com/library. I also worked on the Quarterly and Whidbey MSDN Libraries. Hopefully I can use some of the skills and experiences I gained on that job to help me with this new work.

Thanks for reading my first post, and please don't be shy about responding.
