Documents are stored in Plain Text at SharePoint level. When a user uploads a document to a documents library, if the document is already protected, then it is decrypted and saved in sharepoint. If not it is directly stored in the documents library.

When a user uploads the document that is stored in a protected library, then the document gets encrypted at AD-RMS level, decrypted if the user has the corresponding permissions, not decrypted otherwise.

SharePoint Foundation performs its standard processing, such as synching document metadata, that’s why the document Is stored in plain text.

doing the code review for sharepoint is not always an easy task. I had to do a code review for a sharepoint project source code, and with the limited experience I had with coding sharepoint, It was not obvious for me to look at other's code, assess it, give recommendations and actions to be taken to improve the code.

Besides looking at the code which was time consuming, I have used two main tools:

1/ Microsoft Fxcop: an application that analyzes managed code assemblies (code that targets the .NET Framework common language runtime) and reports information about the assemblies, such as possible design, localization, performance, and security improvements ==> https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb429476%28VS.80%29.aspx

2/ Microsoft SharePoint Online Code Analysis Framework (MSOCAF) : it focuses on memory management, security vulnerabilities, exception management, object model usage, quality gates, and it uses Fxcop as part of its analysis process. It is specific to sharepoint, and very useful, however, you have to organize your files into a set of documents which might cause some troubles.

There are other tools like StyleCop and visual studio code analysis, but I think that the tools discussed here are enough, if you keep using many tools, you may end up loosing more time than doing the code review manually without using any tool.

You might use the Sample code acceptance checklist for IT organization discussed in https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc707802.aspx , it gives good guidelines for easy review and straight to the point !

Good luck with your code review :)

Want to know more about sharepoint consultant? need to know their daily job and the funny side of their role?

How about knowing about them by some sharepoint jokes.....

I was reading "The Fantastic 40 sharepoint jokes" written by Paul J. Swider, and thought of sharing some with Technet bloggers:

Enjooy :)

What do you call a smiling, SOBER courteous person at a SharePoint conference? A: The caterer.

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some SharePoint consultants appear bright until you hear them speak.

A good SharePoint consultant is someone who can tell you to go to hell in such a way that you look forward to the trip.

Client says to SharePoint consultant - Well aren't you a waste of two billion years of evolution.

SharePoint: working daily to make the human brain obsolete.

SharePoint work is something you do that nobody notices until you don't do it.

Top three things SharePoint Consultant won't say:

You're right; we're billing way too much for this.

How about paying us based on the success of the project?

I don't know enough to speak intelligently about that.

I should've known it wasn't going to work out between my ex-girlfriend and me. After all, I'm a SharePoint and she's a Documentum.

A SharePoint consultant with a clear conscience is usually a sign of bad memory.

With sufficient thrust and an open window, SharePoint servers fly just fine.

I scream the same whether I'm about to be devoured by great white shark or work with SharePoint

Good SharePoint consultants are the ones that never get caught screwing it up.

The secret to success as a SharePoint consultant is knowing who to blame for your failures.

SharePoint Consultant to client - 'We don't have a SharePoint performance problem; You have a perception problem.'

SharePoint consultant to client - 'I don't have a solution, but I do admire the problem.'

what is sharepoint? how can I learn sharepoint ? how much time does it require to learn...

what is sharepoint? how can I learn sharepoint ? how much time does it require to learn sharepoint? when can I say I am at level 100, 200, ...or an expert of sharepoint?..... All these questions came to my mind when I wanted to start learning sharepoint. During my learning journey, I used books, e-learnings, online resources, labs, ..... . I tried everything at the beginning with no clear goal, and so I did not succeed to master sharepoint, after many attempts, I could manage to get on the right track.

From my experience, at the beginning you have to choose a track, developer or administrator track. sharepoint is a huge product and to master it, you need to fully cover both, so you'd better focus on one track at the beginning.

Using e-learnings or books is a good way to learn from scratch since it provides you with the necessary knowledge and makes you aware of the what and and the how of the product:

For e-learning material: https://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/training/sharepoint.aspx

For books: "Microsoft SharePoint 2010: Building Solutions for SharePoint 2010" for developer track, "Microsoft® SharePoint® 2010 Administrator's Companion" for administrator's track

Practicing is necessary to try what you are learning and see how the product behaves, for that, taking practice labs is beneficial (you'd better use virtual machines rather than physical machines), for ready to use labs : https://cmg.vlabcenter.com/default.aspx?moduleid=b54b11a1-5d78-4efe-8e22-ac65387b46ba

To assess your knowledge and to know where you are at, taking certifications is good : https://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/training/sharepoint.aspx
