Release of the Windows Phone Developer Tools!
Announcing the release of the Windows Phone Developer Tools!
Today, Microsoft released to the web the complete SDK for developing for Windows Phone 7. This is the result of several months of effort from the product group, developer support, and many developers in the wild who took the time to test the beta SDK and provide feedback.
Now available for download, the public download package is a complete, end-to-end tool set for developers to create incredible applications for Windows Phone 7. This single, free package includes:
- · Visual Studio 2010 Express Windows Phone: Use the IDE you are already familiar with, Visual Studio 2010! Develop applications for the phone using C#. This is a completely functional, standalone version of Visual Studio, however if you already have a full copy of Visual Studio 2010 installed, this will also enable your full version to develop for Windows Phone 7 as well.
- · Windows Phone 7 Emulator: The included Emulator is perfect for testing and debugging your applications quickly against most features available on the retail hardware.
- · Silverlight and XNA: Windows Phone applications can be written in Silverlight or XNA – choose the framework that is best for your application.
- · Expression Blend 4 for Windows Phone: If you are more comfortable designing your application visually, Expression Blend 4 is the tool for you. This tool not only allows you to build the UI for your application easily and intuitively, it is an incredible aid for fine-tuning animations and giving your application that extra bit of eye candy to make it stand out.
