This blog assumes that you have basic knowledge of SLA and BPF(Business Process Flow) and have...

This blog assumes that you have basic knowledge of SLA and BPF(Business Process Flow) and have worked on it before.

In our project we created "Case Stage Specific SLA".

By this I mean that we created a Business Process Flow having 5 stages - Registration, Inspection, Work Order, Complain Resolution and Customer Survey. We wanted one SLA to be triggered when the case is in Inspection BPF stage. As soon as the case comes to Work Order BPF stage then another SLA should be triggered. Following are the steps to do the same:

1. Create a new SLA with the following details:

2. We will be creating two SLA items now - one for Inspection stage and another for Work Order stage.

For the case to move from one BPF stage to another the user needs to enter the mandatory information required to move to the next stage.

In our case we took "Inspector" for "Inspection" BPF stage and "Estimation" for "Work Order" BPF stage.

Go to SLA details and create a new SLA item "Inspection Stage Specific SLA"

Set "Applicable when" Inspector Contains data and Estimation does not contains data which means that case has come to Inspection BPF stage.

Set "Success Criteria" as when Inspector contains data and Estimation contains data which means that case has moved from Inspection stage.

We had set Warning time as 1 minute and Failure time as 2 minutes for demo. It can changed as required.

3. Now create another SLA item in the SLA for Work Order BPF stage

Go to SLA details and create a new SLA item "Work Order Stage Specific SLA"

Set "Applicable when" Estimation Contains data and Issue Fixed does not contains data which means that case has come to Work Order BPF stage. Issue Fixed is the mandatory information required to move from Work Order Stage to the next stage.

Set "Success Criteria" as when Estimation contains data and Issue Fixed contains data which means that case has moved from Work Order stage.

We had set Warning time as 1 minute and Failure time as 2 minutes for demo. It can changed as required.

4. Activate the SLA and Set it as Default

Cheers!!

Business Process Flow ensures that every time the user works with a customer they follow the same steps and enter data consistently. To move from one stage to another, user has to enter the information/fields required per stage and then click on “Next Stage”.

If the users like to change the Business Process Flow stage dynamically then this can be done by creating a custom workflow activity and use it in a workflow.

In CRM 2013 we can create synchronous (real time) workflow.

Go to Processes à New Processs à Select Category as Worfklow

Make sure that the "Run this workflow in the background (recommended) checkbox is unchecked else it would create an asynchronous workflow.

Another new feature that we have in CRM 2013 is the Execute as option.

We can choose whether we want the workflow to run in the context of the Owner of the workflow or to the user who triggered it.

For understanding the workflow context in CRM 2011, check this post

https://gonzaloruizcrm.blogspot.com.au/2011/05/processesworkflow-ownership-faqs.html

Similar to pre post event in plugin we now have Start When option, in which we can choose the workflow to run After or Before a particular event.

Let us take a simple example

Here if the contact's role is Influencer and if the user tries to Deactivate the record, we will cancel the operation.

After publishing the workflow if we want to deactivate the contact record where role is set to Influencer, we will get the following error

i.e. ISV code aborted the operation and the event will be cancelled.

Now if we want to convert this synchronous workflow to asynchronous, we can deactivate the workflow the active workflow and we will get the following option

Similarly if we have created an Asynchronous workflow, we can convert it to synchronous

Cheers,

Shraddha Dhingra

Auto Save is a new feature in CRM 2013 forms. After the record is created and the record is edited first time, the auto save occurs every 30 seconds.

Auto Save feature is not configurable i.e. its duration cannot be set.

It can be disabled at organization level for all the forms.

Settings –> System Settings –> General Tab (first tab) –> Enable Auto Save on All forms –>

There is no option of disabling it on any specific form. To do so we can make use of getSaveMode() method in Client SDK.

We can call the following method on the on save event of the form for which we want to prevent the auto save (passing execution context as the first parameter)

The Auto Save features on saves the date that has been changed since the form was last saved.

It won't save the field that is currently being edited.

It displays the changes in the form after auto save but the entire form is not reloaded.

It impacts CRM auditing as well and also triggers any workflows and plugin associated with that event.

https://dynamicscrmgirl.wordpress.com/2013/08/13/crm-2013-beta-the-dreaded-form-auto-save/

Clicking on New, Close or Qualify actions on the Command bar also saves the record.

Closing the form also saves the record.

Cheers,
