Enabling multiple user certificates on one Smart Card

Scenario: Create an automated way of adding two certificates to the same card each representing a different account.
Solution: provides the capability to put two or more certificates, each associated with a different account, on one card.

The additional certificates are not limited to accounts solely owned by the smart card owner (i.e. a group account).
Each additional certificate, when presented for selection, can have obviously distinct names.
There is no need to limit the number of certificates to two.

Before continuing it is recommended to read about the custom policy modules and OID at:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg418616(v=ws.10).aspx
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc708677(v=ws.10).aspx
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa379070(v=vs.85).aspx

Here is the scenario we have a user called dsteadman and also a admin account called dsteadman_admin. We want to enroll in a smart card for both the user and his admin account to the same smart card. To do this we will link them using the extensionAttribute1, We also populated extensionAttribute2 with the username of the admin account
Thank you and credit for this collaboration to:

Steve Light
Jay Hoffmeier

<img title="clip_image002" style="border-left-width: 0px;border-right-width: 0px;border-bottom-width: 0px;float: none;padding-top: 0px;padding-left: 0px;margin-left: auto;padding-right: 0px;border-top-width: 0px;margin-right:
Certificate Template changes:

Create one or more additional Smart Card Certificate Templates

These additional templates will be based on copies of the existing Certificate template
There will be one new certificate template required for each additional certificate to be issued

Enable deployment of these new templates by the same CA as the original
Create two new Custom Policy Modules on the CA for each of the new templates

The first will modify the certificate to associate it with a different AD account
The second will modify the certificate to have a unique display name

CLM Changes

Create a new profile template which issues certificates from both (or more) smart card certificate templates
Add a data collection element at request time to allow the requestor to enter the AD account name for any additional certificates.

· <img title="clip_image004" style="border-left-width: 0px;border-right-width: 0px;border-bottom-width: 0px;float: src="https://msdnshared.blob.core.windows.net/media/2016/10/clip_image004_thumb2.jpg" width="918" height="511">

Procedure: (to be repeated for each additional certificate needed on a card)

Create the duplicate Smart card Certificate Templates (performed on the issuing CA)

From the Administrative Tools menu, open Certification Authority.
In the Certification Authority window, expand the CA and right-click on Certificate Templates and select Manage.
In the certtmpl window, right-click
Hello all been a busy season for FIM/MIM today I wanted to walk through the steps of installing MIM SP1 on SharePoint 2016. Below are the steps I took to get everything working from service and portal standpoint. As a reminder all accounts were pre-created and service principal names(SPN) were already set. For more information, you can find out how I set this up in my book (https://aka.ms/mimbook) or my go to link: https://setspn.blogspot.com/2011/06/fim-2010-understanding-kerberos.html

In our setup we will use the standalone (Single-Server-Farm) as this portal server is dedicated to the MIM SP1 services

We will now create the SharePoint application that will host our site by running the following commands below in the SharePoint 2016 Management Shell(Elevated): We will use the mimsp1portal.thefinancialcompany.net as our url as we have MIM (PreSP1) within the environment.

$dbManagedAccount = Get-SPManagedAccount -Identity TFC\svc-mimsps
New-SpWebApplication -Name "MIM Portal" -ApplicationPool "MIMAPPPool" -ApplicationPoolAccount $dbManagedAccount -AuthenticationMethod "Kerberos" -Port 80 -URL https://mimsp1portal.thefinancialcompany.net

$contentService = [Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPWebService]::ContentService;
$contentService.ViewStateOnServer = $false;
$contentService.Update();
Get-SPTimerJob hourly-all-sptimerservice-health-analysis-job | disable-SPTimerJob

Now we will confirm the site is reachable and ready for install

Now you're ready to install MIM SP1 Service and Portal (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-identity-manager/deploy-use/install-mim-service-portal)

Now you can navigate using IE, Chrome, Firefox(How Exciting!!)

Once Complete and you can navigate to the MIM Portal you will also notice the Event log filling up with 215X error :(

As we look at the errors we need to evaluate if they are needed within the environment. The rules are helpful to identify performance and issue within the SharePoint farm it is not recommended to disable them all but identify and resolve any issues. To look at the rules

In central admin you would see this:

To disable the rule within SharePoint we can simply opened the SharePoint 2016 Management Shell(Elevated) and ran Get-SPHealthAnalysisRule with the Identity parameter to get the exact rule. We dumped all the rules by just passing the same commend without the Identity param to notepad and searched for the ones we wanted to possible disable:

BuiltInAccountsUsedAsProcessIdentities

ContentDatabaseCorruption

OutgoingEmailIsNotConfigured

BuiltInAccountsUsedAsProcessIdentities

DatabaseUpgradeRecommended

WindowsClassicTest

InfoPathStateServiceConfigurationHealthRule

WindowsClassicTest

Once we identified the ones that can be disabled we ran the following below

Get-SPHealthAnalysisRule -Identity OutgoingEmailIsNotConfigured | Disable-SPHealthAnalysisRule

SharePoint used to have a menu option called “Sign in as Different User” in the top-right corner of every page. It is very useful but form admins sometimes it can be a bit of a pain. So simple solution is to build it right into the Home Page Resources like you see below.

In this configuration we are using SharePoint 2013 so SharePoint 2010 might be a bit different to close the connection .

First Step

I have had several cases with questions on AADSync Filtering. As a general rule I never use Outbound filtering as these are not saved during upgrade. In this posting we will discuss one of the options used to filter objects as it is described in the msdn article : https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn801051.aspx by using the cloudFiltered(negative filtering option).

Once you read this article you should take away the following

Filter users & groups based on attributes using negative filtering

Understand how to test your rules without actually syncing objects to the cloud

Utilize the object preview tool within AADSync console to confirm your rules are correctly configured

Scenario:
In my discussion with the business we want to control who and what makes it to the cloud. In this we only want to create users that have the office items PPG Value this attribute in AD is ‘physicalDeliveryOfficeName’ . This would tell you if you had any updates being written back to this object if in a hybrid scenario

15. Let’s now do the same steps for the non PPG user as steps 11-13 above
16. Now we see a completely different story as we look at the other user type.

1. Now we see that our scoping filter we defined back in Picture 4 has been applied as the Item 3 says this sync rule is connected .

2. We also notice this object has not created a pending connector for the cloud connector

17. During steps 10-13 was a simulation on what we expect the Full/Delta sync to do when we decide to run
18. Now we want to do the same for group but exclude groups all together as this was the business rule not to sync any groups in the cloud
19. We will now do same steps in creating the Group sync rule with slight adjustments based on the scenario we do not want to create any groups in the cloud

Make sure Inbound is selected and click Add New Rule.

Give the rule a descriptive name, such as In from AD – Group DoNotSyncFilter, select the correct forest, Group as the CS object type, and Group as the MV object type. In Link Type select Join and in precedence type a value currently not used by another Synchronization Rule, e.g. 51. Click Next.

Leave Scoping filter empty and Click Next. – This means this rule will apply to all Groups

Leave the Join rules empty and click Next.

Click Add Transformation, select the FlowType to Constant, select the Target Attribute cloudFiltered and in the Source text box, type in True. Click Add to save the rule.

Now if we run through the simulation with groups like we did with users we can see that the group is filtered from being created in the cloud

At the end of the day it only takes 2 sync rules to create users only with PPG in the Office attribute and then exclude all groups from being created in the cloud. This is one of 2 option with using attribute based filtering. I will never recommend Outbound filtering as these setting are not kept during upgrade as it says in the article mentioned above.
